Cotton Australia’s CEO, Adam Kay, and Chair, Joanne Grainger

Cotton Australia works to ensure an environment conducive to efficient and sustainable cotton production. It has a key role in the implementation of Best Management Practices (BMP), an environmental management program for growers. This work has seen a significant improvement in the environmental performance of the industry, with huge improvements in water use efficiency, significant reductions in pesticide use, and millions of dollars invested into Research and Development.

Cotton Australia spends most of its time in projects aimed at decreasing the industry’s environmental footprint as well as communicating this to the general public and key decision makers. We are proud to say that the cotton industry’s environmental footprint is smaller than that of most agricultural industries.

Cotton Australia is the peak industry body for Australia’s cotton growers, representing their interests to governments, non-government organisations, the media and the community. We also part-fund local Cotton Grower Associations and place great importance on building solid relationships between cotton growers and their communities. We are funded by a voluntary levy paid by growers on the bales they produce.

Cotton Australia has a head office in Sydney, an office in Brisbane and two regional hubs in Narrabri and Toowoomba. A team of Grower Services Managers work across various production regions servicing the needs of growers in both NSW and Queensland.
