Cotton is grown on a number of river systems in NSW and Queensland. Some cotton growers get their water from public dams, while others are on “un-regulated” systems where water can be pumped from the river under a strict set of conditions once it reaches a certain height. Some growers also have access to underground water or “bore” water, which is also highly regulated and licenced.
