- Cotton Australia is the peak representative body for Australia’s cotton growers
- Cotton Australia is funded through a voluntary grower levy of $2.25 on each bale of cotton produced
- Cotton Australia supports levy paying cotton growers in cotton production and marketing; represents and advances the interests of cotton growers and the Australian cotton industry; and promotes the Australian cotton industry to the community. Cotton Australia also services growers by implementing the Best Management Practices (BMP) environmental program, and advocating to all levels of Government and the community on behalf of growers and industry personnel.
- Cotton Australia works closely with cotton industry bodies as well as agricultural and environmental associations in Australia and internationally.
- Cotton Australia’s membership is comprised of Cotton Grower Associations, cotton ginning companies and other service providers.
- Cotton Australia has its head office in Sydney, an office in Brisbane, and regional staff located in Toowomba, Queensland and Narrabri, NSW.
- Cotton Australia’s policies and overall strategic direction are set by the Board of 12 elected Cotton Australia directors.
- Cotton Australia Board and staff are represented on a wide range of working groups, boards, committees, reference groups and grower associations. These include the Australian Cotton Industry Council, the International Cotton Advisory Committee, the National Farmers’ Federation, the NSW and QLD Irrigator Councils, and the Queensland Farmers’ Federation.
- Cotton Australia also facilitates a number of industry stewardship committees including the TIMS Committee, NORCOM, and industry biosecurity groups.
- Cotton Australia provides executive officer services and administrative support to the Australian Cotton Industry Council (ACIC).
- Cotton Australia provides administrative and accounting support to the Australian Cotton Exhibition Centre in Narrabri to help attract school student participation in the centre’s education programs.
