Cotton Australia has developed a campaign this season on behalf of cotton growers in an attempt to reduce cotton crop damage due to 2,4D spray drift from neighbouring properties. Last season saw a rise in the number and intensity of incident reports lodged, with severe decreases in yield reported and some cotton entirely destroyed. Almost all valleys were affected.
The following resources are available for download:
- Notification letter for cotton growers to send to neighbours ahead of the coming season, including information on the potential risks of 2,4D applications.
- Spray Drift Factsheet from the Grains Research and Development Corporation.
- Article from Bill Gordon on best practice spray application.
- Photos of damage to cotton crops and examples of product in the 2,4D Phenoxy herbicide range.
- Grains Research and Development Corporation article - Air Induction Nozzles Are Different
- Herbicide Damage Information and Identification Guide
- Template form for growers to use to report hormone spray drift incidents to the Cotton Australia Grower Services Managers
- Phenoxy Herbicides Background Briefing
